Agile Homes investment by Crisis

  • Agile Homes is one of the first investments by Venture Studio from Crisis.
  • The philanthropic impact investment fund is supporting Agile Homes’ growth in sustainable, accessible, and inclusive housing projects.

Agile Homes is one of the initial investments that Crisis, through their impact fund ‘Venture Studio’, completed in September 2021. 12 months on, Crisis reports on its investees’ progress.

Agile was selected as a Crisis investment because of its commitment to delivering high quality, low carbon, and affordable homes for people in housing need, using rapid and modern construction methods to tackle affordable housing and homelessness.

The investment received from Venture Studio from Crisis allowed Agile Homes to complete an oversubscribed fundraising round in 2021 and initiate a programme to tailor housing delivery for specific customer segments, including making homes wheelchair accessible.

The support from Crisis also includes access to the organisation’s specialist teams with over 50 years of experience in ending homelessness and to know-how from people with lived experience of homelessness. Moreover, Agile Homes was able to participate in Crisis’ network of public and private sector organisations, to help in developing their products to best address affordable housing and homelessness.

Agile Homes Chief Executive and Co-founder, Craig White, says about the partnership with Crisis:

“Agile Homes and Crisis have a common interest in rapid, modern, sustainable and safe housing projects. Our partnership with Crisis brought opportunities to scale up our operation and deliver more accessible and inclusive homes. We also benefited from Crisis’ teams and network to adapt our know-how to the needs of those at risk of homelessness.”

Agile’s Co-founder and Director for People and Culture, Linda Farrow, added “Crisis provided me and fellow co-founder Craig with tailored business coaching support. This was a hugely valuable part of the investment that I hope crisis will offer to future investees.”

Agile Homes’ recent ‘Radical Housing Conference’ is an excellent example of the company’s ability to connect key stakeholders and open a discussion focused on identifying solutions for delivering more affordable housing and contributing to the end of homelessness in the UK.

As part of Agile Homes’ bespoke solution to delivering affordable homes, the company is working on designing, manufacturing, and delivering over 70 homes for local authorities, housing providers, and charities over the next 12 months
